This is a family run private business that has been going for 20 years and is owned by the head of the family. They supply us with vintage cotton saris, cushion covers and duvet covers with crazy patchwork made from old embroideries and old cotton saris, all are recycled materials. They employ 30 men and women directly and 1000 people indirectly, these are cottage workers. In this case a large proportion are from a western part of India called the West Zone, the majority of this land is very poor, infertile, desert land. All the companys products are produced in clusters, and they employ persons on a piece work basis but pay them more than government rates. This work is much appreciated and supports a region where there is very little work available. They also support these desert people by giving them education, religious books and study materials to their children.
